Acts 4:32-35
Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. What a radical story from a radical time in the Church's early history! During a time in which so many people were deeply in need, the followers of Jesus did exactly what Jesus would have them to do: they gave of themselves so that everyone lived abundantly. They even went so far as to sell their own lands and houses so that the entire community could thrive. What an example of Christ-like servanthood!
We live in a time in which selling our homes may not be a realistic option, but it doesn't take away from the point that we are still Christians living alongside impoverished and needy neighbors. Just as the early followers of Jesus were compelled to sacrifice what they had so that others could thrive, the staff and friends of Neighbor to Neighbor are inspired to give all that we can to create a place where people who are in need have a right to dignity, where everyone shares in supportive community, and where each one is given an equal opportunity to flourish.
This is our mission at Neighbor to Neighbor, and we're seeing it come to fruition every day. Radical transformation is happening in the life of this community, and in the lives of the individuals who are a part of it. Our big dreams have only begun to come true, and we know that so much more is possible with your help. I hope you will consider all the miraculous things happening here at N2N, and that you will be compelled to give of yourself in some way so that others may thrive.
I am available to you, if you should ever wish to talk with me about all the things currently going on with Neighbor to Neighbor. If we haven't already met personally, I'd love to get to know you! Just give me a call sometime - 816-210-9257, or send an email to revolutioneric@gmail.com. Thank you for your dedication to the mission of Jesus Christ.
Peace,
